Android Trick which most people are usually unaware

  • Hide your files. Android is Linux based. So, next time you want to hide a file/folder on your Android phone, just rename it and add a "." in front of its name. The item will be hidden. It will not show up in any music or video player (Walkman and Movies) and image viewer (Albums). You can view the hidden files (to rename them back) by turning on "Show hidden files" from the side menu in ES File Explorer.

  • Stream your media wirelessly. Turn on media server on your mobile and stream your media (music, videos and photos) on all the devices (laptops and mobiles) connected to the same Wi-Fi network via DLNA. If your phone doesn't have this feature, download BubbleUPnP for DLNA/Chromecast on Google Play.

  • Browse your phone's content wirelessly. If your device supports Media Transfer Protocol (all recent Sony Xperia devices does), you can do this right away. Connect your mobile via USB cable to Windows 7/8 laptop, right click on the device in My Computer and select Network Configuration. It takes a minute or two to configure your phone. It must be connected in MTP mode to the laptop and the laptop & mobile must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Now the steps to connect phone and laptop via Wi-Fi network might differ from brand to brand. In Xperia devices, head over to Settings -> Xperia Connectivity -> USB Connectivity. You will see the name of your computer there. Tap the name and select 'Connect'. This is for Android 4.3, KitKat and Lollipop has slightly different menus in settings so navigate accordingly. If your phone doesn't have this feature, download AirDroid: File Transfer/Manage - on Google Play.

  • Auxiliary devices via USB OTG. As described by Nagarjun Kamineni, you can connect mouse and hard disk to mobile via OTG cable. But the hard disk must be externally powered one because mobile's battery cannot supply enough power to run the hard disk. And in addition to the mouse, you can also connect wireless keyboard and mouse simultaneously! (If both of them have a same receiver, that is.)

  • 'Throw' audio via Bluetooth. 'Throw' as my Xperia calls it. Not only you can listen music via Bluetooth, you can also take calls. Just pair the Bluetooth device with the phone and it is all set. This is very useful while driving, if the car's music system is Bluetooth enabled.

1.You can connect a mouse to your android phone which supports USB on-the-go(OTG) yes just plug in the USB OTG cable and plug a mouse to it and voila!

2.You can also connect your external hard disk to your phone using the same method above.

  • Windows pc: press prnt scrn button on the keyboard and paste (Ctrl+v) in paint and save the file.

4Casting screen to a smart TV from an android phone(the Smart TV must support miracast/ Intel's widi. TV used here is an LG smart TV and phone is the one plus one. Both the TV and the phone need to be on the same wi fi network.)
  • Turn on the settings for screen cast in your TV.
  • In your phone go to settings-->display-->cast screen, tap on the three dots above and check the box for enable wireless display.

  • Select your TV and connect and you must see your phones screen on your TV.

5.Change animation speeds on your android phone.
  • Go to settings-->About phone, tap on build number until you see "developor options enabled".
  • Go back to settings-->developor options and scroll down till you find the options in the picture below

  • Change all the animation scales to 0.5x for faster animations or a higher value to slow down the animations.

Check your Family/Friends current location on map with Google Plus Locations.
Lets say if you were meeting your friends and want to see how far he/they are yet, and you can also get directions to them,
Also, if this is set-up then Google Now will show you cards if your friend/family left office and are on the way home.
Note: You can share this info only with whom you want and others can't see.
Google has recently launched same feature in Google Maps, and it is much more easier to use.

1. Search Google from anywhere
You can perform a Google search from anywhere on your phone. All you need to do is open Google Search ––> Go to Settings > Voice ––> Enable "From any screen" and train your voice.
This way, if you want to search something while using some app, just say "Ok Google " and the Google app will pop up.

2. Google Maps
Everyone uses Google Maps. But, there's one particular feature and is extremely useful when you're lost and don't have data access. Now, if you're in some remote area with no connectivity or hitchhiking across the country, make sure you do this beforehand when you have an internet connection available.
Go to Google Maps ––> Scroll down all the way to the bottom and tap on 'Save a new offline map'––> Tap on download. Voila!

3. Smoother graphics rendering
Many of us like to play hard-core games. But sometimes due to high graphic usage, the game lags. For smoother graphics rendering, go to settings––> About phone and tap Build number seven times to enable developer options ––>Go to developer options and scroll till you see Hardware accelerated rendering––> Tap on Force 4x MSAA

You can get lag free gaming from the option but only at the cost of battery drain.

4. Save offline pages in Chrome
There are many third party apps like Pocket to save web pages offline, but Chrome to has a hidden feature that lets you do the same.
To save pages offline, Load your website and tap the three dot menu button. Select Print and tap the pdf button to save the Web page. This Web page is saved in .pdf format in your Downloads.

5. Mock locations
Sometime applications ask for locations and some of us are uncomfortable about letting the public know as to where we live. Google allows you to fake your location to the application so they won't be able to find where you are. To enable mock locations, go to your settings ––> Developer options ––> Check on "Allow mock locations". When you're done using the feature, disable it because if you lose your phone with this feature on, it'll  be an exasperating task to get it back.

6. Advanced Wi-Fi settings
You can save standby battery drain on your phone with this option. Go to Settings––> Wi-Fi––> Advanced––> Tap on " Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep"––> Select never.
After checking this option, few minutes of inactivity on the phone will automatically turn off the Wi-Fi and turn it on again as soon as the phone is unlocked.

It's a habit now for everyone to use their phone for atleast half an hour before sleeping.

But we don't understand this that the screen light harms not just our eyes but also our sleep patterns.

Solution is not to stop using the phone. But to use the phone with minimal brightness.

But wait, our phone's minimum brightness is also harmful in a dark room.

So, here is the solution.

Use screen filter app.

Below is the link.

Here is how my screen looks with and without filter.

So enjoy your late night chats, videos, quora answers without harming your eyes and sleep.

Locate and wipe your lost phone

Losing your phone is one of the worst things that can happen. These devices contain sensitive information and private data. If your phone falls into the wrong hands it could put you in a world of trouble. There are apps you can download to help in the event of a lost phone, but in order for them to work you need to have them installed before something bad happens. Luckily there is a built-in way to find your lost phone and even wipe all of your personal data.

  2. Go to google.com/android/devicemanager
  3. Select your phone from the menu
  4. Now you can see the location, ring it, lock it, or erase it
DO Google search without typing

  1. Open the Google Search app
  2. Go to Settings > Voice
  3. Go to “Ok Google Detection”
  4. Enable “From any screen”
  5. Train the app to recognize your voice

When you charge your phone, the screen of the device will automatically turn off. If for some reason you want it to stay awake, you can do that with these two steps:
  1. Go to Settings > Developer Options.
  2. Tap on Stay Awake to tick it, thus enabling the feature.
Make an Audiobook out of your EBooks

Whilst reading is a real joy for some, others simply can’t sit back and digest a novel easily. This is why audio books have taken off so successfully in recent years. Whilst Android does not have a native audio books app, any KitKat-powered phone can now be made to read text aloud by switching on the ‘Talk Back’ option.
You’ll find this option by going to Settings > Accessibility and switching ‘Talk Back’ on. With the Google Play Books app there is an option in the settings menu called ‘automatically read aloud’, which you should also tick. To make the voice sound less robotic, tick the ‘high-quality voice’ box, too.

Force reboot

All of a sudden android devices freeze on few situations.Your android phone is frozen, you can reboot it instead of trying out other things and getting irritated by doing so. Just press Power Button+ Home Key + Volume up button simultaneously
